It's been while since I have blogged!! So I figured it was time for an update! I guess I ain't really good at this blogging thing since it has been almost 2 months since my last update!
A lot has happened in the past 2 months!! Tim went to Mississippi for 3 weeks to camp, came home and left again for 11 days. He is now back home, thank the Lord. BUT the day he went back to work, they let him go!! I can't believe it. I don't know what we are going to do!! Money was already tight, and no we have no income and no insurance!!! I guess I will have to apply for welfare, I really didn't want to have to do that though!!
It has been a rought week and a half, so far! With Tim and the kids home! The kids are home on fall break. They won't go back to school until October 20th. So I am having problems feedin everyone 3 meals a day!!
I went back to my surgeon last Thursday and it went well!! He was impressed with my healin'! He wants to see me back in 6 months (if we have insurance).
I do have some good news to report, other than that! Jack, my oldest son was Saved last Wednesday night and will be getting baptized this Sunday, Oct. 12!! Yay!!
Well I guess I will close this for now. Just wanted to give an update!
God Bless!

Update on things.....
Wow! I can't believe how long it has been since I have updated! I am so sorry!
Anyway, lots has been going on around here!
I went back to the surgeon and he couldn't believe how good I have been doing! He released me for full weight bearing (Yay) and told me to come back in 2 months. He said he wanted me "walking" in to his office in 2 months! I think I can handle that lol.
Physical therapy has been going well. Although, I haven't been in almost 2 weeks now. My therapists said there is no point in me coming in again until I get my new leg. I am doing well walking, but will need therapy once I get the next one, the one I can bend my knee in!
August 9th, Tim left for camp! He has now been gone 2 weeks and will be home Friday (the 29th). Yay! I have missed him!
As for me, well I am doing good. I still haven't gotten the socket yet, but have been promised that this coming Wednesday (the 27th) I will walk out of there with it! So I am really excited about that! With the temporary, I am now walking without crutches or a walker!!! Not even a cane!!! I am really proud of myself. But then again, I am the type of person that doesn't stay down long! With all of my surgeries and sickness' I have always been up not long after! I have been given the go ahead to start swimming again! And am looking forward to that! However, I haven't done it yet lol. I am a procrastinator I guess on some things! But I just hate to go to the Y by myself!
I have been getting up and cleaning as much as I can, and I have been driving. It is a funny site lol. But oh well.
On August 16th, Julie and I went to see Mirrors and then went out to eat. Mirrors wasn't that good. I mean it was ok, but not one I would spend $20 on when it comes out!!
Anyway, this coming week will be a big one! Tomorrow night we have another PTO meeting here, to discuss the upcoming carnival at school. Which is our biggest fundraiser! Then Wednesday, I get my new leg! Thursday, we will go get Jack's new glasses and then a "Block Party" at church Thursday night. Friday, Tim comes home.
I guess I better get off for now. I have tons to do! Now that I can finally do it lol.

Physical Therapy started.....
Well I started physical therapy last Monday! Nothing too exciting just yet. All I am doing right now are exercises to stretch and strengthen my stump and hip. I didn't think it would be to bad, but I am actually sore from it!!
My new leg/foot has been giving me a problem. A small problem, but none the less, a problem. I am suppose to get a pressure spot right under my knee but instead it is a little further down on my leg-stump. I guess it was a blister, and now the blister busted. So every time I go to walk, it rubs and hurts! I just hope this doesn't prolong my doctors decision to let me put full weight bearing on it.
I went back to the prosthetic dr on Wednesday and they couldn't figure out why it was rubbing like it is. So they put some padding in the brace, but it still rubs. Hmmm. Anyway, they still said everything looks really good and that they think my surgeon will let me put full weight bearing hopefully this week. So they casted me for a socket. The next foot I get (hopefully next week or the week after) will be a socket, bar and a foot and hopefully I will be able to bend my knee. They were also talking about a new prosthesis that is still in beta testing and asked if I would be willing to try it. Of course, I said yeah!!
Friday when I went back to PT, my therapist told me I needed to go back to the prosthetic place to let them look at the pressure spot. So I did and he put more padding in there. I thought it would help, but after having the foot/leg on for a period of time, it started hurting again. So I have decided to leave it off while I am at home and in the bed. Just to give that pressure spot a little time to heal. I dont know if I am suppose to do that or not, but I feel that is what I need to do. I will HAVE to wear it again tomorrow when I go back to PT.
Speaking of tomorrow- this next week is gonna be a busy one!! Tomorrow, I have to go back to PT and to the prosthetic place, then Tuesday I will get a break and be home. Wednesday, we have to register the kids for school. Then Thursday, I have to go back to the surgeon. And then somehow next Friday, I need to get out and go grocery shopping. Not to sure how I am gonna do that yet.
A week from tomorrow is the kids first full day back at school! I am gonna miss them, but I think they are ready to go back!
Anyway, I guess thats all for now. I will update more once I have more news.

New Leg/foot......
Well here I am! I got my new leg/foot on Tuesday, July 15th! This is just the first of many! I won't get my permenant one for another year or so. Got to give my body time for all of the adjustments.
I am now up and walking some! I can't put all of my weight on it yet, but gradually I will build up! So far so good!
It is so heavy! But it is actually no heavier then what my normal foot/leg was before it was cut off. It is just where my leg has felt so light for a month!
It is definately working muscles too! They hurt, but I am sure will get better with time!
I start physical therapy Monday, so that will help too. Then next Wednesday, I will go back to the prosthetic place and will get fitted for a "socket". Once I get that in about a month, I will get another foot.
Yeehaw, I am just moving right along! I am so glad that everything is going so smoothly!! But I also know I couldn't do any of this without the Lord!
I will keep updating as things progress! Hopefully it will keep going as well as it has so far! Praise the Lord!

Just stuff....
Well I haven't blogged in a few days so I figured it was time, lol. I didn't realize it had been a whole week!
So I guess I need to start with last Wednesday since that is when I went back to the dr.
The prosthetic guy was suppose to come last Tuesday to change my dressing and bring me my foot, but he had the wrong foot! They had a left foot and I need a right! So because my dr appt was the next day, we decided to wait and just have my bandage changed the next day!
So Wednesday, I went to the prosthetic place in Nashville before going to the dr. Because I am healing so well, I had to go down a size in the brace and they didn't have the right size "pylon" which goes at the bottom of the brace for the foot to connect to. Which in a way is a good thing because going down a size means I am healing well! Actually, Dan (the prosthetic guy) couldn't believe it, he said it was "phenomenal"! So that is wonderful.
Then we went to the surgeons office. He said it was "fantastic". They took all of the stitches out, which didnt hurt as bad as I thought! Then he told me that I could start putting pressure on my foot when I get it in 2 weeks. That is awesome. He also gave me a prescription to start physical therapy! Yay!
Thursday I rested most of the day! Then Friday was great! I went to town and had a good time, then we came home and went across the street to the church yard sale. I sat with them for 2 hours and then went to Julie's! Now that was great! We ate, I stuffed myself, and then shot fireworks. It was nice getting to "hang out".
Saturday, I slept most of the day!!! I was wore out! Then we went to my mother in laws for a cookout and fireworks.
Sunday, we went to church and then came back home to go to church down here for their dinner. That was nice also!
Yesterday, I became a great-aunt again! But this time it was from my side of the family. My first great-niece!!! My nephew came and got me so I could be there when she was born! At 2:47 p.m. little Alexandria Cariana was born! Weighing in at 6 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long! She is so beautiful. And to see the gleam in my niece's eye was wonderful. She is a proud mama!
Today I am sitting around as usual. I want to try to do something around here. But I don't know how I am going to be able to do that! I can't clean, but I do wanna try to cook supper tonight!
My sister in law is going to take me sometime this week, to the physical therapy place so that I can get that started! Other than that, I have no other plans for the week!

The weekend.....
Oh wow, where do I start?!! This has actually been a great weekend!
I do feel as though I need to brag on my husband a little bit!! So this post will be mostly my bragging, lol.
Yesterday (Saturday), Tim took me out of the house for a little bit. He loaded up the wheelchair, and of course the walker too! We had a nice family day out! Tiring, but nice.
We went to Goodwill first, and I got me 2 new dresses for church! One I only paid $4.00 for, and the other one was $8.00! So I did good, I thought! LOL. I never buy anything for me, so I was ok with only $12!
After Goodwill, we went to a few yard sales. That was a dry run! We didn't find anything! So we headed on to my moms! Tim worked on my uncle's truck and I visited with my mom for awhile. That was nice!! I always enjoy seeing my mom!
We got home kind of late and I crashed lol. It was tiring!
Today, we went to church. It was so nice being there this morning! Everyone couldn't believe how good I looked and everyone commented on me. That made me feel loved lol.
Now is the shocker! In the 16 years we have been together...Tim has NEVER washed a dish!!! And he has cooked maybe 10 times if even that! Well when we got home from church, Tim is in the kitchen washing dishes AND cooking!! I can't believe it. This is a day to go into the history books lol!!!!
He has been so awesome this past week! I can't believe how well he has taken care of me! I knew he loved me, but I guess I didn't realize how much. Now I know! He has waited on me (which is usually the other way around), helped me bathe, made sure I have anything I need or want, and now doing dishes and cooking!! He is going back to work tomorrow, and I am really sad about that! But good thing is, he is taking off of work Wednesday to take me to the dr, and then he will be off for the 4th! YAY!
Told ya I was gonna brag on him!!
I better go for now, I think lunch is almost done. Then I will have about an hour or so to rest before church tonight!

Bored
Well I thought I would blog some this morning. Since I am so bored and tired of sitting in bed lol.
I need to update about the rest of the week anyway! Let's see, where did I leave off? Oh yea, Monday afternoon.
So Monday night my best friend (what would I do without her?!) brought us supper! It was so sweet! She brought us lasagna, salad, garlic bread and me some Mt. Dews! She knows how I like my Mt. Dews! LOL. Supper was so good! I haven't had lasagna in a while, so it was nice!!
Tuesday, was the same ole same ole. We were expecting a visitor though, Dan from the prosthetic place was coming to change my dressing. When he didn't come by 11:30 a.m., Tim decided he was going to try and change it for me, bless his heart! He did try, but the bandages were sticking to my stitches so I asked him to stop. That afternoon, instead of Dan coming, Jason came. It did hurt when he changed them, but I knew it had to be done. Now it won't have to be done again until next Tuesday.
That evening Sis Pat and Brother Wayne came from church and brought us some chicken n dumplin's (Sis Pats dumplin's are wonderful), and they brought cornbread and peach cobbler. It was so nice of them!!
Wednesday, nothing special! Again, just sitting around. Tim's cousin and aunt came to see us though, which was nice. Molly just loves Shelia (Tim's cousin), and Shelia offered to let Molly come stay with her for a few days. I agreed, so that Molly wouldn't have to be bored here! But I sure have missed her!!!
Thursday, yesterday, noone came all day! So I didn't even go in the living room until last night. My mom came and it was nice. I always love to see her! She brought us supper! And some extra stuff as well. Yummy fried chicken, mashed taters, baked beans, and of course Mt. Dew!!! Yummm! She stayed for a little while and had to leave to go home. I hated to see her go.
Today, well I am just sitting here now. It is almost 11 a.m. and I am waiting on Tim to get home with Molly. I miss her so much!!! Jack is in the living room playing with his PSP, and Harley is with Tim.-I created a new group called Tennessee Amputees. When I searched Yahoo Groups for an amputee group, I found tons, but none local. So I decided to create one. It is not only for amputees but also for their friends/family members.
Tomorrow, I am hoping to get out of the house. Even if it is to just go to the store. I have been cooped up for a week!! LOL.
Well I guess I will close this now. I don't know how long my entries are suppose to be, but I don't want them to be so long that it will seem boring. Which right now, everything about me is pretty boring lol.

Post Op
Monday June 23, 2008
It has now been 4 days since I had my surgery! I went into Vanderbilt on June 19th to have my leg amputated. I was so scared when we got there. We wasn't sitting out in the waiting room long before they called me back to the "holding room". That is where they got my iv started, and did a nerve block. Wow, did that nerve block hurt!! But once it kicked in, my whole leg from my thigh down was completely numb!
While I was in the holding room, everyone came back there to see me before I was wheeled to surgery. Barbara, Ike, Sandra, Jackii, Shirley, Andrew, Kay Kay, Dee Dee, Brother Jack, Sister June, April and of course mama and Tim was there to see me. I felt so loved!
When they took me to the OR, I really don't remember much! I remember them telling me they were putting oxygen on me, but that's all I remember lol. When I woke up in recovery, I really didn't know what to expect. I raised up, looked down at my leg and said "ok" then I laid back down and went back to sleep. It wasn't as bad as I thought.
When they took me from recovery, it was so sweet! Tim came up beside me, kissed me and handed me a vase with 2 roses in it! I was so happy to see him!
They got me to my room, but I don't really remember much about that lol. I know that Shirley, Jackii, Andrew, Kay Kay, Dee Dee, Donna Boggs, mama and Tim were there. But I don't remember when everyone left!
I woke up around 1:30 a.m. And I was so hungry! I asked the nurse for something to eat and she brought me a ham sandwich. And Tim had me a Mt.Dew waiting on me! Yay! He knows how I like my MT. Dews! After I ate, I went back to sleep.
Friday morning I woke up pretty early! I was ready to get up! Physical therapy came in and got me up on the walker. I was kind of scared to get up at first, but it was easier than I thought. Everyone was impressed at how well I did. The therapists kept telling me to slow down. If it has of been on crutches, I would have been able to go even faster, lol. I am a pro at them! I was so excited though to be up out of the bed and the first thing I did was went to the bathroom lol. I was so tired of having to use a bedpan!!! For some reason, I kept calling it a dustpan lol.
Donna came to visit and it was so nice to see her! She is such an inspiration to me. When she was 20, she was in a car accident and lost both of her legs. But she gets around so well, I would have never known that she is a double amputee!
Saturday, the Dr came in and said I was free to go home! Yay! I just had to wait on the physical therapists, so they could make sure I could make it up steps, and I had to wait on Dan, the orthopedic/prosthetic guy! Once all that was done, I was able to leave. But first, Dan came in and changed my dressing. I was a little scared to look, but I did. And it didn't look anywhere as bad as I thought it would!!
Once we got home, everyone here took such good care of me! The hour ride home did exhaust me though, so I had to take some medicine and go to bed!
Sunday, my mom and my aunt came over to clean for me! It was nice, but I felt bad just laying on the couch and not doing anything!
Today, I have been just lazing around! Julie is bringing supper over for us tonight. She is so sweet to do that!!!- Well it is now after supper...she brought me a nice salad, a lasagna and garlic bread. Oh and bless her heart, she even brought me some Mt. Dew!! So sweet!!!
